I will always have a bit of a love-hate relationship with the Chilly Duathlon, held each February and November. I love it partly because it’s the first multi-sport race I ever did (in November 2009) after my decision to get my fat ass off the couch and get back to some level of fitness.

I know what you're thinking…  Yes, it has only been 48 hours since I raced the ITU Age Group World Triathlon Champs in London. But in all honesty, that was always only ever going to be a sideshow, a nice distraction from the main focus of middle distance racing.

It has been a busy couple of weeks since the Cotswold Classic triathlon.  Busy mostly in the sense that I started a new job last Monday.  This involved me spending most of the last week in Stockholm, my new home from home.  As you might expect in the first week, there was lots of meetings to be had, lots of information to take in and people to meet.  Unsurprisingly this left less time than normal for training.

I usually do some form of blog or training update in the week or two leading up to a race, but this time I wanted to keep things quiet for a couple of reasons:  1 - I wanted to remove as much pressure from myself as possible and 2 - I really wanted to do my utmost to treat this as 'just' a training race.  Even before I'd entered, my coaches and I were already clear that this wasn't in any way an 'A' race - it was just a run out to see where my relative strengths and weaknesses currently lie.
